Second Skin/ Saniderm Healing

Please follow these healing instructions, as this is the only way I can guarantee a smooth healing process. Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns during healing. Thank you!

    1. Please keep Second Skin on for 24-48 hours. You can shower with this medical adhesive on, but do not soak it. Working out/ sweating may make the bandage start to come off. If your tattoo is exposed/ leaking, please take the bandage off immediately to reduce the risk of bacteria getting trapped inside. Once you’ve take your bandage off, DO NOT put more second skin on. It is possible that your tattoo bandage may fill with a bit of blood, plasma and ink- this is normal!

    2. Take your second skin off in the shower, allowing the steam to loosen the adhesive making it easier to take it off. Peeling the bandage downwards close to the skin is recommended. Wash your tattoo in the shower with Dial Anti Bacterial Soap.

    3. For 3 weeks- You will wash your tattoo with Dial Anti Bacterial Soap in the morning & night, and to your best judgment in cases of pet licks/ kids hands/ dirty public objects that may touch your *pretty wound*. Pat your tattoo dry- DO NOT exfoliate/ rub/ scratch/ pick your tattoo.

    4. For 3 weeks-  You will apply very light layers of lotion on your tattoo once your second skin is off. (Less is more!) Please do not use any petroleum jellies or aquaphor or natural oil based “tattoo healing balms/oils”, as these products only act as a barrier vs moisturizing the skin like lotion does. I advise using nothing other than unscented lotion due to the fact that petroleum jellies like aquaphor and A&D/ oils and balms will make your scabs very soft, making it more likely for them to get ripped off by closing, causing fall out/fading of your tattoo.
